My ideal vacation is floating in the sea and uninterrupted hours of reading.
I gravitate toward subjects that help me make sense of the world around me and give my brain a workout (I read quantum physics like others watch UFC fights, with a voyeuristic satisfaction even if it's out of my league).
No wonder the picture I choose for my website's bio has me standing next to a pile of books.
Books inspire me, and my coaching directly reflects what I read. One of my clients asked me for a list. I suggested these four because they are fun, easy, and why I loved them.
π΅πΌ- for anyone holding tight to control like a grandma to her purseβ¨:
Unbound a women's guide to power. Written by a Dominatrix/ Taoist Buddhist, Kasia Urbaniak, the book is a gem filled with exercises I use in my coaching and works wonders for my type-A clients. She speaks about the counterintuitive power of surrendering, which feels like discovering the deliciousness of water as we let go of control.
π°- for anyone wanting to break their salary ceiling:β¨
Badass with Making Money by Jen Sincero. β¨She talks about our relationship with money, mixing wit and spirituality with images that stick: β¨"The walls of your comfort zone are lovingly decorated with your lifelong collection of favorite excuses." Touché: I have a collection of excuses of why I hate posting on social media that would fill the Louvre's walls.
π- for those who like breaking the rules because they are boring:
Thinking differently is a short book with tips when ideas dance like bubbles of champagne in your brain. Useful for Nonlinear thinkers who feel like aliens and spend extra time and energy trying to explain to others how their brains function. How do I know, you ask?
π- For the existentialist with the integrity of a teenager's heart...β¨
Marcus Aurelius - Meditations - this last one was recommended by a client and female-badass-Yoda and is more cerebral. " I have often wondered how every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, yet sets less value on his own opinions of himself than on the opinions of others." Digest one quote a day and see your life transform.
I love nothing more than a book recommendation, so PLEASE do share yours. I'm creating a top 10 list of those most impacted me.
Merci!
